A Micro-Grid platform powered by PV solar panels, SMARTNESS (Smart Micro-grid plAtfoRm wiTh aN Energy management SyStem), was inaugurated at the National Engineering School of Tunis (QehnA-laboratory) on January 27, 2021.
The inauguration event was attended by the president of University of Tunis El Manar (UTM), the Director of the National Engineering School of Tunis (ENIT), the General Director of Cross-border Cooperation (Minister of Economy, Finance and Investment Support), the General Director of The Tunisian Company of Electricity and Gas (Renewable Energy Branch), the suppliers of the experimental platform (GAMCO energy and Lightency), representatives from the Ministry of Agriculture as well as various institutions’ representatives who highlighted the benefits of participating in such events and cooperation projects as an opportunity to interact and update knowledge.

A technical visit took place also to demonstrate the experimental platform and explain its operation modes. SMARTNESS will allow students, researchers and economic operators to test innovative digital solutions applied to micro-grid for the building industry.
This action is part of the Demonstration and Realization activities of Med-EcoSuRe project, and aims, through the acquisition of innovative technologies, to strengthen research and capacity building within the National Engineering School of Tunis (ENIT).
