On November 21st and 22nd, 2019, the Mediterranean Renewable Energy Centre (MEDREC) hosted the kick off meeting of the Med-EcoSure (“Mediterranean University as Catalyst for Eco-Sustainable Renovation”) project in Tunis. The project is funded under ENI CBCMED Program 2014/2020 for a total amount of €2.9 million (€2.6 million as EU contribution), and with a duration of three years.
Med-EcoSuRe focuses on the identification and implementation of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy measures in 9 university pilot buildings in Italy, Tunisia and Palestine. The project officially started on September 1st, 2019, and will last for three years.
The kick off meeting was followed by a public launching event which saw the participation of H.E. Lorenzo Fanara, the Ambassador of Italy in Tunisia, Mr. Fethi Ben Mimoun, General Director of Cross-border Cooperation at the Ministry of Investment, Development and International Cooperation of Tunisia. Ther launching event brought together key national stakeholders interested in energy efficiency and highlighted the objectives and expected results of the project.
The project partnership, led by MEDREC, covers four countries - Tunisia, Palestine, Italy and Spain- and includes public universities, as well as energy and solar sector agencies.
