SEACAP 4SDG introduces a support mechanism for Mediterranean municipalities to plan energy refurbishment in public buildings

Sustainable Med Cities project organized a seminar as a Mid-Term Conference of the project in the framework of the SBE Series (Sustainable Built Environment Conference Series), in Sousse (Tunisia) on 19th October 2022.
SEACAP4SDG project participated in this seminar to share the preliminary results with a focus on a support mechanism set up to assist cities and municipalities across the Mediterranean to efficiently plan the energy refurbishment process in public buildings.
The support mechanism presented aims at proposing and implementing the most cost-effective technologies for Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy in a set of selected buildings and based on the results and outcomes of reference projects selected in the framework of the project, while identifying characteristics to be generalized, and by adapting gained knowledge to maximize efficiency and effectiveness of building energy refurbishment strategies adapted to local Med specificities, notably energy poverty.
 

         The participatory approach set up was also shared with the audience while outlining the steps for the establishment of a Living Lab with the aim to provide the project partners and stakeholders with a common space to collaborate and share knowledge directly with each other in order to propose and implement the most innovative and cost effective solutions for the benefit of Mediterranean municipalities.
